Taylor’s Re-Debut
Taylor Swift is re-recording her albums, since the revenue is being stolen from her by her old record company. In these re-recorded albums, we receive extra tracks called “Vault Tracks” which were not released in the original albums. Swift’s first rerecorded album was Fearless. Since the release of Fearless, Swift has also released her version of Red and Midnights. Midnights, however, not being a rerecord, has had one song “Anti-Hero” charting at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for eight weeks. It is no secret Swift loves to trick us all with easter eggs in her words and her videos. Thus, here is my prediction of Swift’s next move.
“Speak Now” (Swift’s Version)
If you have seen the music video for the beloved “Bejeweled” track from Midnights, you may have noticed the conspiracy surrounding the elevator buttons. In the music video we see a set of elevator buttons and each color represents one of her infamous albums.
The color of button number three was an ode to “Speak Now”, but the color appears again at the end of the set as the number 13. Which has led us all to believe “Speak Now” is next because this would be the 13th album. Swift also appeared sitting on a clock during the music video; the clock is showing 3 o'clock, which may be a representation of “Speak Now.”
This is not our only clue. In her newest music video for “Lavender Haze,” there are multiple odes to the "Speak Now” tour using koi fish. Swift’s guitar from the "Speak Now” tour has koi fish on it and we see koi fish in at least two sections of the “Lavender Haze” video. Yet another clue in “Lavender Haze” is more of an inference many fans have come across. During the video we are shown a tv with a weather forecast and there is a red circle with a down arrow; farther down we see rain. The consensus is this hint “Drop everything now, meet me in the pouring rain,” an infamous line in Swift’s “Sparks Fly” is a shout out to “Speak Now.”
These are only some of the clues and easter eggs blondie has thrown at us. We are all left guessing and waiting to be “Enchanted” with Taylor’s version of “Speak Now.”
