Meet the Staff

Breeanna Maupin, Advisor
Ms. Maupin is new to journalism but not to Calloway County! She graduated from Crockett County High School in Alamo, Tennessee in 2016 and earned her Bachelor of Arts for English and her Secondary teaching certification from Murray State University in 2020. After student teaching at Calloway County High School, she was hired as a Language Arts teacher during the 2021-2022 school year.
She is starting her fourth year as an English/Language Arts teacher at the ninth-grade level, but has also previously taught 10th and 11th grade. She enjoys reading, hanging out with her cats, and working on her gardening skills. Ms. Maupin has, in addition, taken on the board game club this year. Through journalism, she hopes to expand her own journalistic writing and management skills and to help others find an appreciation for writing and distributing the news in an ethical and bias freeway.

Maelynn Casey, Co-Editor in Chief
Maelynn is a 17-year-old Senior, she has been an honors student all her high school career. She is in the CCHS Art Club, Chess Club, and is now working to help The Laker Review in graphic and web design.
This year Mae resides as Co- Executive Editor in Chief. She is friendly, kind, loyal, brave, and is learning to work at I.T. to help The Laker Review even further. She is very charismatic, making people laugh and is always enjoyable to spend time around.

Isabella Rodriguez, Co-Editor in Chief
Isabella is a third-year member of The Laker Review who holds many talents revolving in the arts, photography, and graphic design. After moving to Murray in the summer of 2020 from a town right outside of the U.S. capital, Rodriguez quickly involved herself in the Calloway art programs. This includes things like arts and film classes as well as the CCHS Art club & NAHS! Something to note with Isabella is her unbreakable ability to come up with solutions to problems quickly, as well as being a quick learner.

Alexa Matheis, Co- Editor in Chief
Alexa is a 17-year-old senior coming back to The Laker Review staff to continue writing and forming connections with her peers. She is excited to be Co- Executive Editor in Chief along with Izzy Frasier and Maelynn Casey. She enjoys writing and going out in the town to take pictures and get involved in her community.
Alexa hopes to meet more people and enjoy her remaining high school years. She enjoys archery and spending time with her closest friends. Alexa hopes to bring the same contribution to The Laker Review was the rest of her teammates.

Dixie Hughes, Viewpoint Section Editor
Dixie Hughes is an 18-year-old senior that joined journalism because she loves to read and write. She is a hardworking, kind person, and works well with others. She is shy but easygoing. She loves talking to people and getting to know them. She is dedicated to her job in Murray. She has come a long way as a CCHS student, and she hopes to further her education at Murray State University studying Law and Phycology. She is excited to be part of the journalism team and strengthen her writing skills.

Montana Walton, Culture Section Editor
Montana Walton is a 17-year-old girl in her senior year of high school that enjoys lots of many different things. She enjoys writing, drawing, painting and any kind of art. Montana is a very bubbly person when you get to know her and will give anyone her opinion rather than someone asks for it or not. She is very generous, calm and understanding. She’s hardworking and will do anything to help anyone she can.

Tim Byford, Sports Section Editor
Tim Byford is a 15-year-old sophomore who is funny and a kindhearted person. In his free time, Byford likes to do things like sit outside with his dog Maddie, watch tv, and play video games. Tim is most interested in learning the ropes of journalism and getting to know his peers. Tim is very passionate about his work and is excited to share it with the people of Calloway.

Sloan Evans, News Section Editor
Sloan Evans is a 17-year-old senior who enjoys hiking, working, and playing with her dogs. She joined journalism so I can stay involved in the community and school. Sloan hopes to learn more about writing and her peers. She loves authentic tamales and to share her joy in food with others while also spreading joy to everyone else.

Zoe Salyers, Feature Section Editor
Zoe Salyers is a 17-year-old Senior, her personality is outgoing and bubbly. She works hard for the things that she wants and strives to make the world more positive. Salyers loves helping others and getting involved. She also enjoys going to the gym and hanging out with friends and family. After high school she is going to the navy and hoping to travel the world in the process.

Aden Tingle
Aden Tingle is a 15-year-old sophomore who enjoys playing basketball, hanging out with friends, and Batman. He has joined the laker review to be a sportswriter. In his spare time, he goes to the gym. He joined The Laker Review to get more involved in writing and hopes to one day achieve being a better writer.

London Teitloff
London is a 14-year-old sophomore at Calloway County High School, who also plays volleyball. She is an exceedingly kind person and is in several clubs including FFA and FBLA. After High School she wants to attend Auburn University and later pursue becoming a successful animal veterinarian.

Miles Miller
Miles Miller is a 15-year-old sophomore, who likes heavy metal, and his favorite movie franchise is Lord of the Rings. Miles is soft spoken, and he always looks like he is done with life, but that is just his face. Miller is incredibly funny and kind once you get to know him and can be the light in the classroom.

Dawt Mawi
This is Dawttin Mawi, she is currently 17-year-old Senior and attends Calloway County High School and plans on majoring in Biology in Collage. Outside of school, she enjoys babysitting, painting and building Legos. During the 2024-2025 school year, she plans on connecting with the community and building insight on journalism and its importance.

Angelina Colson
Angelina Colson is 16 years old and is in the 10th grade. She likes to shop at H&M, Lululemon, Ulta, Hollister. Colson also likes hanging out with friends in her free time. She is here because she wants to be a better writer and to meet new people. She hopes to achieve writing and talking better to people.

Jacob Adams
Jacob Adams is an 18-year-old senior at Calloway County High School, and this is his first year in The Laker Review. He joined The Laker Review because he wanted to improve his journalistic writing and make new connections within the school and community. In his free time, he enjoys drawing, writing, and playing video games with friends and his favorite subject is algebra.

Nariah Lewis
This is Nariah Lewis; she is in 10th grade. In her free time, she likes to relax and go hangout with friends. Nariah joined The Laker Review because she likes to write and read. Nariah hopes to achieve getting better at writing, learning new things, and meeting new people.
