Pop or Flop: The Latest Hits
Blockbuster Hits- The Invitation
This The Brides of Dracula reinterpretation leaves much to be desired in terms of classic horror troupes. Despite Sony's lackluster advertising campaigns and startling resemblance to the 2019 hit Ready or Not, vampire film junkies flocked to the cinemas in hope of finding another favorite; however, many were sorely disappointed. Not only do the visual effects leave much to be desired, but the overall plot is surprisingly amateur and incredibly average in both characters and development.
Video Game Hypes- Stray
Part platformer, part adventure game, Stray gives a new perspective to many old and new gamers. From the 1-foot-tall eyes of an orange furry friend, gamers explore a cyber-punk world filled with robot citizens to annoy or delight. As a lost cat trying to get home, players adventure through the city and discover bleak yet entrancing conflicts plaguing both the environment and the lovable computer screens that gamers share the space with. A wonderfully rich story lies at the center of Stray, with mechanics ranging from simple platforming to more complex point-and-click obstacles. Overall, despite a minimal lack of fluidity and slightly repetitive movements, Stray is an amazingly thought-provoking example of a simplistic idea made into a vibrant and gratifying experience.
