Smith Shoutouts
Faculty/Staff Shoutout
For the last issue of The Laker Review of the 2022-2023 school year, Mr. Smith is shouting out a heartfelt goodbye to three of our most dedicated Calloway County High School Teachers, Ms. Steele, Mr. Chapman, and Mrs. Harrison, “All three of them dedicated their careers to being mentors for kids. That in itself deserves all respect and accolades to be bestowed on them during these last few weeks.” This is going to be their last year with us as teachers and from henceforth they will be living that “retired teacher life.” From The Laker Review Staff, we wish you all well in the next chapter of your lives.
Smith’s Year in Review
When we asked Mr. Smith to revisit his thoughts about his principalship after a full year of leading this school, he replied, “I have thoroughly enjoyed it! I advise anyone to switch gears every 5-7 years in his/her career to keep it fresh. I spent five years as an assistant principal, and to be honest, I thought about retiring until this opportunity presented itself.” Mr. Smith had an amazing first year as head principal and looks forward to the next. The students and faculty this year have played an immense role in helping Smith and appreciate all he has done to celebrate students.
Student Shoutout
On Wednesday May 10, Mr. Smith accompanied a group of about 30 students on a trip to Sirloin Stockade for an all-expenses paid extended lunch period at the establishment. One of the lucky students had this to say, “The staff was very complimentary and nice. Everyone enjoyed themselves. Our efforts in learning can really pay off.” Congratulations to the distinguished students. With Mr. Smith at the helm, we can expect more such rewards in the future.
