Laker Leadership Spotlight: Karsen Starks

Karsen Starks has been a part of the Lakers football program since third grade. Starks stands out as a great athlete, no doubt, but he is an even better individual. Karsen has had two very successful football and baseball careers, helping the Lakers in many of their wins. The leading tackler in football, Starks, has performed many clutch hits for the baseball team. As he headed into his senior year, he realized he needed to step up and take on a leadership role. Although the football season did not go the way the Lakers anticipated, there were still many bright spots throughout the season.  

When Karsen was asked about what made him a great leader, he responded, “I like to think that I have a good work ethic and lead by example to others. If I work hard, I can demand the same from my team, so I push them to practice harder and help push the momentum.”   

Karsen will take those same leadership skills with him into this year’s baseball season. Karsen has also had a very successful baseball career, starting since he was a sophomore. He has a lot of experience catching and playing the outfield. Karsen has taken many at bats for the Lakers and will look to build on that in the upcoming season. With the baseball team losing a lot of key players to graduation, they will need to have someone step up as the leader. Karsen is looking forward to taking on the challenge to make the most of his senior year.
