What’s that Sound?
Concert/pep band is in full swing this time of year with the Laker Band preforming alongside the Murray High Tiger Band in the Veteran’s Day parade. The Laker Band has been hard at work rehearsing for their Winter Concert on December 14th at 6:30 p.m. in Lovett Auditorium where Jazz Band will perform “Moten Swing,” by Buster and Benny Moten, arranged by Rick Stitzel; “The Christmas Song,” by Mel Torme and Robert Wells, arr. Paul Jennings; “Unleash the Chicken,” by Kris Berg. Concert Band will also perform “Epic Gaming Themes,” arr. Paul Murtha; “Where Mountains Touch the Sky,” by Robert Buckley; “The Thirteen Days of Christmas,” by Wolfbane Armadillo Mozart, transcribed by Paul Jennings. Attendance is free and open to the public.
Calloway County Middle School’s cafeteria will host the band's annual Chili Supper and Silent Auction on January 19th. The band will perform its classic original Rudy 2.0 in the seventh annual Rotary Light Up Murray Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 2nd. The band can also be heard playing at any home game for the Laker boys’ and girls’ basketball teams.
