New PR Coordinator Has Big Plans for Calloway
With the ongoing trend of changes here at Calloway High, there is yet another name to add to the list of new faces: The coordinator of public relations, Mr. Ryan Marchetti. A former teacher at Calloway, Marshall (where he was also a principal), and Graves counties, Marchetti is entirely new to the PR scene—but is by no means incapable of running it. According to Marchetti, having several years of educational experience (and being a father with a child on the way) has been nothing but advantageous. Being a positive influence (and in return, having positive influences), giving and receiving a constant flow of information, and (as mentioned previously) having several other jobs in the district is what he claims prepared him for the position in PR.
Marchetti’s job—despite his claims of it being rather fun—is a busy one; consisting of scheduling social media posts, issuing press releases, and working with the high school Journalism department to promote their work, and Calloway pride is just a portion of what he deals with on a “sometimes stressful” day. Regardless of this, he perseveres through the issues, stating, “Good educators do things that make students grow, happy, and love their school.” A projected plan for his work includes uploading a short video clip of Calloway life to social media roughly every week—though this idea is not set in stone.
Marchetti’s vision for Calloway County is to remove the reluctance sometimes associated with going to a school in the district, to adopt a larger “students first” mentality, and “[for] our school district to be one of the top districts in the United States,” according to the coordinator.
