Student Spotlight- Gary Rodgers

Freshman Gary Rodgers is a member of the Calloway County High School Archery Team.  He started shooting archery on the middle school team when he was in 7th grade.  One of Gary’s favorite archery moments was shooting his first perfect round of 50 points at a tournament that took place at Trigg County. He is currently one of the top scores on the team and has been shooting well at recent tournaments.

When asked “What do you like most about archery,” Rodgers replied, “I really enjoy going to different schools and getting the opportunity to shoot with different teams in our region.  I like spending time with my teammates during practice and at tournaments.  And also getting the opportunity to shoot at the state level competition”

Archery Coach Onda Sheridan says “Gary has shot for 2 years in middle school and is now a freshman on target to be a top 3 contender of the Laker team.  He has improved his form and technique to shoot in the 280’s out of 300.  I am proud of his dedication.”

We wish Gary and the rest of the archery team a good rest of the season and especially some good luck at the State Tournament.
