FBLA Princess & Superhero
On Saturday, November 4th, FBLA held their annual Princess and Superheroes breakfast. This breakfast is a fundraiser for Calloway County High School’s FBLA Chapter. During this breakfast, FBLA members dress in princess and superhero costumes and decorate a table booth to host an activity related to their character. For ten dollars, children can walk through these stations and meet the characters, participate in the activity, eat a donut, and take some candy home with them.
Princess and Superheroes has been held for about ten years, with the highest attendance being 250 kids last year in 2022. This resulted in a total of $2,500 to put towards FBLA’s funding. This year, there were about 146 kids in attendance, raising $1,460 for FBLA’s fundings, according to Ashley Fritsche, one of CCHS FBlA’s advisors.
Setting up this special breakfast is no easy task. A day prior to the event, FBLA members will help carry tables and set up decorations for all booths. This year, the Princess and Superheroes event was held in the new CCHS auxiliary gym. There were roughly 25 booths for kids to attend. These tables were filled with decorations related to the character. For example, the Captain America table had red, white, and blue streamers, ballons, and a blue tablecloth. As previously mentioned, activities were also specific to the character. For example, the Beauty and the Beast booth had a dancing activity. Following set up, FBLA members and advisors double checked to make sure they had all the food and drinks needed for kids, as well as made sure any extra tables were prepared. During princesses and superheroes, kids are also given the opportunity to color and make a crown.
After preparation, FBLA members arrived two hours prior to the event to make sure everything was perfect for the kids. They got in their costumes and played pretend for the next two hours. This event was a success in many books.
